Reasons to join the PAC

If you are not already a member of the PAC then hopefully you are considering doing so. You may well be asking ‘What’s in it for me?’ and this is a very reasonable question to ask as, after all, nobody wants to part with their hard earned cash unless they think they are getting something in return. So what is in it for you and what can you get out of the club?

The first and most obvious benefit is that your money will be going directly into helping to protect pike and pike fishing for both you and for future generations. Since its creation in 1977, the PAC has highlighted many issues such as Pollution, illegal removals of pike, poaching, pike culling, predation and so on. We now work with many agencies such as the Environment Agency, The Canal and Rivers Trust (formerly British Waterways), The Angling Trust and The Broads Authority on all of these issues. Our activities are not just restricted to England and Wales either. Recently the PAC was involved with other bodies in successfully overturning a proposed change to by-laws on Loch Awe in Scotland which would have allowed the removal of pike from the Loch. We have recently re-established a Regional association in Northern Ireland to work with the authorities there and address the many issues facing the pike and pike fishing in that part of the UK.

Apart from the very important and central ethos of pike conservation what else can you expect to get for your money? Well for starters there is the privileged access the PAC gets to many waters. The work that we have recently been doing with The Canal and Rivers Trust has lead to us being given privileged access to Tring, Wilstone and Boddington reservoirs to hold national events.

We all like a bargain and another benefit of being a member of the PAC is the discounts that you can get from a range of tackle shops, both physical and online and other discounts too.

Another benefit is access to the member’s only forum where you will be able to ask any questions that you may have regarding pike fishing and be confident that the answers you are being given have come from some very experienced pike anglers.

There is also our fantastic quarterly magazine ‘Pikelines’, a super, high-quality, full colour 76 page magazine packed full of features which has just seen the re-introduction of top angling author Stephen Harper take on the role of Editor and head of ‘Pikelines’ production, and the redesign of our new website. One of the members recently commented on our FaceBook Page that the membership fee was worth it for the magazine alone! Believe me, the latest issue is simply stunning!
